10 Ways To Take Care Of Your Mental Health

10 Ways To Take Care Of Your Mental Health

Welcome back!! I hope all of you are enjoying your weekend so far!

You might be thinking.. "Yes, I want to better my mental health but where do I start?". Today I am going to give you 10 ways to try to start bettering your mental health.

1- Practice Self-Care.

Self-care means taking time to do the things you love for yourself. I preach this! You need to be a little selfish for yourself. Treat yourself to the things you love, get a treat, buy yourself flowers, take a bath, etc.

2- Daily Journaling.

I will admit, I am not the best at journaling. I will get into a groove and then stop. But it does help! I have been using a guided journal that has prompts but you can also just write down your thoughts for the day. I recommend doing this before bed.

3- Exercise.

Exercise is so good for you! Not just for your health but it helps clear your mind. You are focused on the exercise you are trying to complete instead of on social media, other people, etc. Moving your body for at least 20mins a day will make a huge difference.

4- Don't Forget Your Basic Needs.

Food fuels your soul. Drinking water and getting proper sleep are important for your mental health. Eat good food! You feel better when you eat food! Also drink your water! I am horrible at this but I have been better.

5- Practice Breathing.

Focusing your attention on inhaling and exhaling helps to bring you back to the present. Yoga is a great way to practice your breathing. I have been doing yoga in the morning as a way to wake up my body and get a good exercise in. Then I do another session of yoga at night to help relax and calm my body and mind.

6- Reduce Screen Time.

Limit your social media intake and read a book instead. I haven't been much of a reader but I have learned to love reading! Reading is so calming when you find the right types of books you life. I personally love Colleen Hoover, Emily Henry, and Lucy Score.

7- Develop A Routine.

Developing a routine helps with managing your time and preventing procrastinating. I personally don't love routines. The only routine that I have right now is my skincare routine! It's better than nothing right?

8- Reach Out To Someone.

The world is divided into introverts and extroverts, but what we all have in common is the need for connection. Be kind to someone today or this week! Make it a goal of yours to say something nice to someone each day whether it be a stranger, a friend, or a family member.

9- Reduce Negativity.

Try to avoid negative energy. People that are constantly draining your positive energy, aren't uplifting you, and don't make you feel good. Remove them from your life. Also remember, your thoughts are not facts. They can be changed.

10- Declutter.

Every couple of months or change of season try to declutter. Throw away stuff you are no longer using, donate to your local women's shelter, clean out your bathroom, clean out your fridge. Don't get too overwhelmed with wanting to clean everything all in one day, spread it out.

Thank you for reading! I hope these 10 ways can help you better your mental health this week! I love you!
